Letters have been a passion of mine since I was in primary school when I was complemented by my 3rd class teacher on a 'perfect' copperplate 'f'.
Since then I have dabbled with letters, copying and creating. At first I drew every letter in the old Speedball lettering book and then launched out creating letters.
In 1986 I finally had the time to study proper calligraphy under Gemma Black in Canberra. The Canberra Calligraphy Society (CCS) had been newly created and I joined to further my experience with calligraphy. Since then I have made many calligraphic friends and have been on the committee for a number of years.
As well as doing many courses with Australian calligraphers I have studied calligraphy by correspondence with the Roehampton Institute in England. For 10 years I taught calligraphy at night college and now occasionally give workshops for the CCS.
