Wildlife

When I was growing up on a property in the 1950's we did not take much notice of the wildlife.  Of more interest were the cattle and sheep and other farm activities.  Australian wild animals were just part of the landscape - the few kangaroos and birds.

Later on I became more aware of native animals and their relationship with the landscape and how important these animals are in the balance of the ecosystem and how damaging the 'exotic' animals are.

When the opportunity arose I was able to train and care for injured, sick or orphaned wildlife.  I helped set up the wildlife section of RSPCA Canberra to which members of the public were able to take injured wildlife.   This group morphed into ACT Wildlife. ACT Wildlife has a body of trained wildlife carers who care for wildlife in their own homes.
